Ascalade Communications has signed a development agreement with Skype that grants Ascalade rights to develop multiple Skype-certified telecommunication products. Working closely with Skype’s development teams, Ascalade will create original products for its telecommunications, Internet communication and networking customers. This is the first development deal between Skype and Ascalade and terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The first product from this multi-product deal has already begun shipping to a major global networking company and is available in North America and Europe. The product is part of Ascalade’s Companion series of PC-based VoIP cordless phones. The phone allows users access to their Skype contact lists, make Skype calls, change their online presence and access voicemail away from their computer. This new Companion phone also features a color screen, speakerphone, polyphonic ring tones, and caller line identification and uses Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) technology. DECT enables superior voice quality using a digital cordless technology that does not interfere with the large number of 2.4GHz devices in the home and office.

Product design and development will be done at Ascalade’s head office in Richmond, British Columbia while manufacturing will be done in Ascalade’s manufacturing facilities in Dongguan, China.
